After several postponements & a near wash-out, the new public art sculpture was dedicated on Friday evening, October 9, 2015. With only a sprinkling of enthusiasts, the lovely "Red Orchard Wall" was ceremoniously welcomed into the community. The festivities began with the musical stylings of Tim Haverland & his magical ukulele, accompanied by his worthy assistant, Elise. The artist, Michael Enn Sirvet (shown in the center with red jacket), friends & family, as well as ESSCA, community garden members & Reemberto Rodriguez, Silver Spring Regional Director, were on hand to celebrate. Interrupted by a quickly-moving thunderstorm disbursing attendants to their cars, the festivities resumed shortly afterwards with a champagne toast & cookies. Thanks to all who participated with the entire process to bring "home" such a spectacular addition to the gateway of Fenton Village.
